The 2011 Honda CR-V has 13 recalls, the most serious being Takata airbag inflators on both the driver and passenger sides that can explode and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.
A separate structural recall affects vehicles sold or registered in certain Midwestern and Northeastern states: the rear trailing arm can detach from the vehicle, causing a sudden loss of control. The remaining recalls all involve the passenger frontal airbag and stem from replacement inflators that were installed incorrectly, either at a dealership or due to a repair kit assembled with the wrong wire harness. In those cases, the airbag may not deploy properly in a crash, raising the risk of injury. Prior repair attempts on the Takata inflator issue did not fully resolve the problem for some vehicles, which is why multiple rounds of replacement and re-inspection are reflected here.
