The 2011 Honda CR-Z has 4 recalls, the most serious being a Takata airbag inflator that can rupture in a crash, sending metal fragments into the cabin and potentially causing serious injury or death.
Two of the recalls involve the drivetrain on manual transmission models. Under certain conditions, including extreme temperatures combined with high electrical loads and engine speeds near stalling, the engine control unit can activate a stall-prevention feature that inadvertently commands the electric motor to spin the engine or move the vehicle without driver input, raising the risk of an unexpected lurch or rollaway. These two filings describe the same underlying problem and are treated here as one issue.
