The 2024 Honda Odyssey has 4 recalls, the most serious being a steering gearbox that can corrode and bind, potentially causing the driver to lose steering control.
Water can enter the steering gearbox when the assembly is not sealed tightly enough, leading to corroded and stuck gears. When the gears bind, the steering wheel may become difficult or impossible to turn, which raises the risk of a crash. On the safety equipment side, a separate recall involves the front passenger seat's occupant classification sensor, which can misread who is sitting in the seat and cause the airbag to deploy unintentionally during a crash, raising the risk of injury to the occupant. There is also a recall that applies only to vehicles fitted with QRT-Deluxe or QRT-Max wheelchair restraint systems: the retractors in these systems may fail to lock properly, leaving a wheelchair unsecured and able to shift or roll during transit.
