The 2008 Honda Ridgeline has 9 recalls, the most serious being a Takata airbag defect affecting both the driver and passenger frontal airbags, where the inflator can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.
Both the driver and passenger airbag inflators are covered by multiple recall filings stemming from the same underlying Takata defect; prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue for all affected vehicles, which is why several campaigns exist. There is also a structural concern specific to vehicles that were sold or registered in certain northern and mid-Atlantic states: road salt and moisture can corrode the frame over time to the point where a fuel line cracks and leaks, and a fuel leak near an ignition source raises the risk of a fire. On a less severe note, the hood support rod pivot hole may not have been punched to the correct size, which can cause the rod to fail to hold the hood open, posing a risk to anyone working in the engine compartment.
