The 2006 Honda Ridgeline has 12 recalls, the most serious being multiple Takata airbag inflator defects affecting both the driver and front passenger sides, where the inflators can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.
The airbag issue appears across several filings covering both frontal airbag positions, but the underlying danger is the same regardless of which filing applies to a given vehicle. On the structural side, the rear frame can rust at the points where the fuel tank and rear subframe mount, allowing those components to separate from the frame. If the fuel tank drops and is damaged, fuel can leak and create a fire risk. There are also two recalls related to the heating and air conditioning blower motor wiring under the passenger-side dashboard: a connector in that area can be kicked by a front seat passenger's feet, causing the terminal to overheat, melt the wire insulation, and potentially start a fire. A lower-severity recall covers a dealer-installed trailer wiring harness that may not correctly operate backup lights on a connected trailer.
