The 1995 Hyundai Accent has 10 recalls, the most serious being a wiring harness that the clutch pedal bracket can rub through on manual transmission models, damaging insulation and causing the engine to stall unexpectedly.
Several recalls involve front suspension corrosion on vehicles in northern states where road salt is common. Winter salt can pit and crack the front coil springs until they break and puncture a tire, and it can also corrode the front lower control arm to the point where it fractures, both of which can cause sudden loss of vehicle control. Separately, the lower control arm assembly can shift out of position after contact with curbs or road debris, causing wheel misalignment and heavier steering effort. There is also a rear axle concern: the left rear axle carrier on certain vehicles may have an internal casting defect that weakens the part, though all known affected vehicles were reportedly repaired before delivery. Finally, the headlamp dimmer switch on airbag-equipped trims has a plastic slider that can fail to retract fully when switching from low to high beam, leaving the driver with no headlights at all until the switch is moved back to low beam.
