The 2015 Hyundai Accent has 2 recalls, both concerning the same issue: in very cold temperatures, the passenger seat sensor can misread the front seat and fail to deactivate the front airbag when a child seat is installed there. If the system does not recognize the child seat, the front passenger airbag can deploy in a crash, which poses a serious injury risk to a child in that seat. On certain vehicles, The Occupant Detection System may have been incorrectly programmed. In cold ambient temperatures, the system may fail to deactivate the front passenger airbag when an child restraint seat occupies the front passenger seat and also illuminate the airbag warning lamp in the instrument cluster. This could result in injury.
