The 2014 Hyundai Elantra has two recalls, the more serious being a fire risk traced to the anti-lock brake control module, which can ignite an engine compartment fire whether the vehicle is parked or in motion.
The second recall involves a small rubber pad on the brake pedal that can deteriorate over time. When that pad breaks down, it leaves the brake light switch in a permanently extended position, causing the brake lights to stay on even when the pedal is not being pressed. Following drivers may not be able to tell when the car is actually braking, raising the risk of a rear-end collision.
