The 2017 Hyundai Elantra has 6 recalls, the most serious involving the brake booster, which can fail and leave the driver with little or no power assist, requiring significantly more pedal force to stop the vehicle.
The brake booster issue appears across multiple filings, but the core problem is the same: the booster can fail and extend stopping distances. On the steering side, a damaged connector at the electric power steering motor can cause the system to lose assist, making the wheel noticeably harder to turn, particularly at low speeds. Two separate recalls cover the front airbags: in one, the driver's airbag inflator may not deploy fully in a crash, and in the other, the airbag may fail to inflate at all, both of which reduce protection in a collision.
