Summary
The Isuzu NRR has 12 recalls spanning 2007 through 2025, with the most serious being multiple defects on 2025 NRR EV models where cooling system failures or overheating electrical connections can cut drive power while the vehicle is in motion, raising the risk of a crash.
The 2025 electric variant has a cluster of related issues. Incompatible coolants mixed during production can generate debris that seizes the high-voltage cooling pump, forcing the truck into reduced power mode and potentially cutting drive entirely. A separate connection issue in the sub-junction box can also overheat and trigger the same loss of drive power. On top of that, improperly routed chassis and cab wiring on some 2025 trucks can wear against nearby components, cause a short circuit, and create a fire risk as well as a loss of drive power.
The 2023 model year has a different instrument panel cluster than intended on some trucks, meaning the display cannot show lane departure or automatic emergency braking warnings before or when those systems activate, removing the driver's cue that intervention is occurring.
On 2022 models, two separate issues stand out. Some trucks that had their frames extended did not have the anti-lock brake module or the optional driver assistance camera recalibrated afterward, meaning those systems may not function correctly. On gasoline-engine 2022 trucks, a miswired oil pressure sensor connector means the warning light will not illuminate when oil pressure drops, allowing the engine to run unprotected and risk sudden failure.
Going back further, 2018-2019 NRR trucks modified with dual steering by an outside shop can lose the keystock from the steering cross shaft, causing unexpected loss of right-hand steering. The 2015-2017 model years have a frame crossmember issue where rough edges from stamping can crack the transmission mounting studs over time, leaving the transmission unsupported and unable to shift properly.
The 2008-2018 model years are covered by a recall for a faulty fire extinguisher that may not function in an emergency. On 2007 models equipped with an oil pan heater, moisture and debris can accumulate at the cord connection, overheat the plug, and start a fire even when the vehicle is parked.
