The 2019 Isuzu NRR has 4 recalls, the most serious involving rear wheels that can separate from the vehicle and a steering defect on dual-steering-equipped trucks that can cause sudden loss of right-hand steering control, both raising the risk of a crash.
On the chassis side, the rear axle U-bolt nuts may not have been properly tightened and can loosen over time, allowing the axle to shift out of alignment. When that happens, the driveshaft can separate, cutting power to the rear wheels and stalling the truck. There is also an instrument cluster issue where the odometer correctly measures distance but displays the unit as kilometers instead of miles, which can cause owners to misjudge when routine maintenance is due and let safety-critical service intervals go past without notice. Note that the dual-steering defect only affects trucks modified by Diesel Modification Center.
