The 2001 Jeep Cherokee has 3 recalls, the most serious being two separate fire risks: aftermarket Airtex replacement fuel pumps with degrading electrical connectors that can leak fuel, and a debris buildup issue on 4.0L-equipped models where accumulated material near the number three cylinder can ignite.
The third recall is a compliance issue with the child seat anchor system. The anchors do not meet federal safety standards, which means a child safety seat may not attach securely and could fail to restrain a child properly in a crash. Note that the fuel pump recall affects only vehicles where an Airtex aftermarket pump has been installed as a replacement part, not the original factory-installed pump.
