The 2021 Jeep Cherokee has 5 recalls, the most serious being a transmission oil cooler hose that can burst and leak fluid onto hot components, creating a fire risk. On the suspension side, one or both front lower control arms can fracture while driving, causing sudden loss of steering control with no warning before it happens, and this recall only affects Latitude and Limited trims. The power transfer unit, which splits drive power between axles, can also fail and leave the vehicle without drive power or allow it to roll away unexpectedly. There is also an airbag concern: a loose connector for the right-side curtain airbag can prevent it from deploying in a crash, reducing protection against ejection and side impacts.
