The 2017 Jeep Renegade has 5 recalls, the most serious involving two separate defects on 2.4L models that can cause a sudden engine stall: a failing fuel pump on flex fuel (E85) 4x2 variants that loses fuel pressure, and a cracked oil pump housing that can cause the engine to cut out without warning.
Both stall risks leave the driver with no power while in traffic, raising the risk of a crash. The fuel pump issue is specific to vehicles equipped for flex fuel use on 2.4L engines, while the oil pump housing defect applies more broadly to 2.4L-equipped models. There is also an instrument panel software issue where multiple warning lights can illuminate even when nothing is wrong with the vehicle. This matters because a driver who sees false warnings repeatedly may discount a real warning when it appears, missing an actual malfunction.
