2021 JEEP WRANGLER Recalls — Canada & USA

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler has 15 recalls, the most serious being a high-voltage battery defect on 4xe plug-in hybrid models where the battery can catch fire even while the vehicle is parked and turned off. The fire risk on 4xe models runs deep: prior repair attempts have not fully resolved the battery issue, and a software defect can also cause the hybrid engine to shut down without warning while driving, cutting power to the wheels. A separate fire risk affects manual transmission models of any powertrain, where the clutch pressure plate can overheat and fracture. On 3.0L diesel-equipped vehicles, the high-pressure fuel pump can fail, causing an engine stall or fuel leak, and a frame stud on certain vehicles can puncture the fuel tank in a crash, creating another fuel leak and fire risk. On the occupant safety side, front seatbelt pretensioners may have a faulty weld that prevents them from tensioning properly in a crash. Several electrical and visibility concerns also appear: the instrument panel cluster can short out and go dark, the wiring for the center brake light and rearview camera can short and disable both, and on 4xe models a software fault can prevent the windshield defroster from clearing the glass. The 4xe also has an odometer that may stop displaying correctly after a certain mileage, which can cause owners to miss scheduled maintenance.
