6 recalls across 6 model years
The Kawasaki Concours 14 has 6 recalls covering 2008–2013 model years, with the most serious affecting 2008–2012 models where road debris can become trapped near the rear brake pedal, causing the rear brake to overheat, lock up, or fail entirely, with front brakes also at risk on certain 2008–2012 configurations.
The 2008 model year has a related but narrower version of this issue, where small stones can lodge between the brake pedal and the rear brake master cylinder actuating rod and prevent the rear brake from fully releasing.
Three separate recalls address the same underlying electrical problem on police-configured versions of the 2009–2013 model years. On these police-package motorcycles, the additional accessories and wiring harness can overload or chafe through to the 30-amp main fuse, blowing it and cutting power to the engine mid-ride. The 2009–2013 police variants also carry a broader concern where the accessory installation can cause fuel leaks and reduced braking ability in addition to the stall risk.
