2010 Kawasaki Concours 14

The 2010 Kawasaki Concours 14 has 4 recalls, with the most serious issues affecting police-modified versions, where accessory wiring can blow the main fuse, cut engine power, and cause the motorcycle to stall without warning.

Two of the four recalls apply only to units modified for police authority use. On those bikes, the added electrical accessories and wiring harnesses draw enough current to blow the 30-amp main fuse, and the harness wiring can chafe against the frame and short out, producing the same result: total loss of electrical power to the engine and an abrupt stall. A separate police-specific recall broadens the concern further, noting that improperly installed police accessories can also cause fuel leaks and reduce braking ability in addition to triggering the same engine stall risk.

The remaining recall covers the full civilian and police production range. A gap between the rear brake pedal and its guard allows small stones or road debris to wedge in and press the brake pedal continuously. That constant drag causes the rear brake to overheat, which can lead to the brake locking up or failing outright. On ZG1400C models, the front brakes can be affected as well, meaning a rider could lose braking at both ends simultaneously.
