The 2024 Kia Sorento has 3 recalls, the most serious being a power steering wiring defect that can cause a sudden loss of steering assist, making the wheel significantly harder to turn and raising the risk of a crash.
The power steering issue stems from the wiring harness being incorrectly assembled or routed, which can allow it to contact the steering shaft and sustain damage over time. The result is reduced or complete loss of electric power steering assist, felt most sharply at low speeds when more steering effort is needed to maneuver. There is also a lighting concern: a software fault can cause both the headlamps and tail lamps to switch off unexpectedly, leaving the vehicle unlit and difficult for other drivers to see, while also reducing the driver's forward visibility at night.
