The 2019 Kia Soul has 3 recalls, with two tied for most serious: an EV-only high-voltage battery that can short-circuit and catch fire, and a parking mechanism that can allow the vehicle to roll even when the shifter is in Park.
Both fire and rollaway risks apply only to Soul EV models. On the fire side, the battery pack can develop an internal electrical short while driving, raising the risk of a fire. The rollaway concern involves a damaged parking mechanism that fails to hold the vehicle when parked without the parking brake applied and the car still powered on. The third recall covers airbags across several trims: the airbag control unit's cover can press against a memory chip on the circuit board and damage it, leaving the airbags unable to deploy in a crash.
