The 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Sport has 8 recalls, the most serious being a suspension knuckle joint that can crack and allow the front suspension arm to detach, causing sudden loss of steering control.
Diesel-equipped models have a software defect where the fuel gauge incorrectly reads low and can trigger the engine management system to shut off the engine while driving, cutting drive power and reducing brake assistance. The driver's seatbelt has two related restraint concerns: the emergency locking retractor may not lock properly during hard braking before a crash, and the front seatbelt pretensioners may not fire correctly in a crash, leaving occupants less protected in both cases. The instrument cluster can go blank intermittently, hiding vehicle speed and warning lights from the driver.
