The 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Velar has 3 recalls, the most serious being an engine oil leak that can reach an ignition source and start a fire under the hood.
The oil leak stems from a problem in the engine's camshaft carrier, where an oil channel can be improperly formed or blocked, allowing oil pressure to build and force oil out of the engine. That oil, once it contacts hot engine components, raises the risk of fire. On the electrical side, this vehicle is a mild-hybrid, and a separate recall covers the DC-to-DC converter, a component that steps down high-voltage power for the 12-volt systems. If it fails, the vehicle can lose drive power without warning, leaving the driver unable to accelerate and increasing the chance of a crash.
