11 recalls across 14 model years
The Lexus GS 350 has 11 recalls spanning the 2006–2019 production run, with the most serious being a fuel pump failure on 2013–2019 models that can cause the engine to stall or suddenly lose power while driving, raising the risk of a crash.
The fuel pump issue affecting 2013–2019 vehicles was addressed in stages, with later expansions extending coverage to additional model years within that range. On 2017–2019 models specifically, a separate fuel pump recall covers the same stall and loss-of-power risk. On 2007–2011 models, fuel pulsation damper diaphragms can harden and crack over time, allowing fuel to leak near potential ignition sources and creating a fire risk.
The 2013 model year carries two brake-related recalls. A brake pedal load sensing switch can fail, causing the brakes to apply on their own without the brake lights activating, which can surprise following drivers. A separate issue on early 2013 production involves the electric power steering control unit, where restarting the vehicle after parking with the wheel turned can leave the steering wheel off-center, causing the car to pull in an unexpected direction when pulling away.
Going back to 2006 production, three fuel system issues appear. A fuel pressure sensor may not have been tightened sufficiently at the factory, allowing fuel to leak past the gasket and threaded connection. Separately, aluminum fuel rails on certain 2006 vehicles can corrode when exposed to some ethanol-blend fuels, potentially developing pinholes that leak fuel. There is also a 2006 AWD-specific recall where floor carpet near the accelerator pedal, if not reinstalled correctly after a service visit, can catch the pedal and hold it partially open rather than letting it return to idle.
