The 2006 Lexus GS 350 has 4 recalls, all centered on fuel system risks, with the most serious being fuel leaks that can lead to a fire if an ignition source is nearby.
Three separate fuel system concerns affect this vehicle. The fuel pulsation dampers contain rubber diaphragms that can harden and crack over time, allowing fuel to leak from the delivery line. A fuel pressure sensor on the delivery pipe may not have been fully tightened during assembly, letting fuel seep past the gasket and sensor threads. There is also a corrosion concern tied to certain ethanol fuel blends: the aluminum fuel rails can corrode, which may clog injectors and cause a rough idle or trigger the check engine light, and in more serious cases develop a pinhole that leaks fuel. The fourth recall applies only to all-wheel-drive models and involves the floor carpet near the accelerator pedal: if the carpet is not properly reinstalled after a service visit, a plastic pad in the carpet can catch the pedal and hold it partially open, preventing it from returning to idle on its own.
