The 2016 Lincoln MKT has 5 recalls, the most serious being a turbocharger oil leak that can ignite on hot engine components and start an engine fire, and a rear suspension toe link that can fracture suddenly and cause the vehicle to lose directional control.
The toe link recall applies to vehicles equipped with the SHO Performance Pack or Police Interceptor package. When a toe link fractures, the rear wheel can shift angle abruptly, making the car difficult to steer or control at speed. On the fire risk side, the turbocharger oil supply tube can leak onto nearby engine parts warm enough to ignite it.
The B-pillar door trim on the driver and front passenger sides can pull away from the vehicle while driving, sending a piece of exterior trim onto the road where it becomes a hazard for other vehicles and pedestrians. The rearview camera can display a distorted, flickering, or completely blank image when the vehicle is in reverse, reducing the driver's ability to see what is directly behind the car while backing up.
