The 2009 Maserati GranTurismo has 3 recalls, the most serious involving rear suspension tie rods that can fail and cause a sudden loss of vehicle control.
The rear wheel alignment tie rods on both sides of the suspension can crack or break, leaving the driver unable to steer predictably. On the exterior lighting side, a faulty rear lamp assembly can cause both the tail lights and brake lights to go dark, making the car invisible to following drivers at night or when slowing down. There is also a software concern affecting vehicles equipped with the optional front parking sensor system: a fault in the instrument cluster control module prevents the seatbelt warning buzzer from sounding when belts are unbuckled, meaning occupants may not realize they are unrestrained before a crash.
