The 2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG CLA45 has 7 recalls, the most serious including an airbag that can deploy without warning and a steering shaft universal joint that can separate, causing complete loss of steering control.
The front roof panel, which sits between the windshield and the panoramic sunroof, can detach from the vehicle and become a road hazard. This issue covers both original bonding failures and cases where a prior repair attempt did not hold. Two separate recalls address the passenger seat sensor that classifies front-seat occupants: in one case, the sensor may fail to deactivate the front passenger airbag when a child seat is present, and in another, the sensor may prevent the airbag from deploying correctly for an adult passenger. On the safety systems side, the automatic emergency call system may send rescuers to the wrong location after a crash, delaying medical response.
