Mercedes-Benz Amg Gle43 Recalls

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE43 has 13 recalls across its 2016–2019 production run, with the most serious being water intrusion into the fuel pump control module on 2017–2019 models that can stall the engine while driving.

On the structural side, 2017–2019 models have a front roof panel whose adhesive bonding can deteriorate and allow the panel to separate from the vehicle and become a road hazard. A separate recall covers the same panel on vehicles where a prior repair attempt did not fully resolve the bonding issue, with the same detachment risk. The 2018 model year has two additional separation concerns: panoramic sunroof glass panels bonded with an incorrectly formulated primer can detach while driving, and Continental-brand tires on 2018 vehicles can develop sidewall cracks or shed tread due to over-curing during production.

Braking and steering issues concentrate in the earlier years. The 2018 model has a brake system defect that reduces stopping performance. On 2016 models, water can enter the electric power steering control unit and deactivate power assist, making the steering significantly heavier and harder to control. The 2016–2017 model years have a passenger seat sensor that may not correctly classify the front passenger, which can prevent the front airbag from deploying in a crash.

The 2016–2017 models also have an engine and transmission software conflict that can shut the engine down when the driver brakes to a stop or accelerates after an automatic engine restart. On 2017 models, the center console can unlatch in a crash and allow loose objects to fly into the cabin, and door latches can appear locked while remaining openable, raising the risk of an unintended door opening. Two separate recalls cover the emergency call system: on 2017–2019 models it can send responders to the wrong location after a crash, and on 2019 models a software fault can disable the system entirely, preventing any emergency contact.
