Two other restraint system concerns affect this vehicle. The seatbelts can bind within their guidance loops, allowing slack to build up through normal occupant movement; in a crash, that extra slack means less protection and a greater chance of injury. On Cabrio models, a software incompatibility in the airbag control module can cause both stages of the frontal airbags to fire simultaneously during a low-speed crash, rather than deploying in sequence as designed, which can increase the force delivered to the occupant and raise the risk of injury. There is also a concern with the automatic crash notification system: if the vehicle is in a collision, the eCall feature may transmit the wrong location to emergency responders, delaying help from reaching the scene.
