The 2019 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT53 has 8 recalls, the most serious involving the transmission wiring harness, which can short-circuit and start a fire — a risk compounded by a prior repair attempt that may not have fully resolved the issue.
A separate fuel injector recall also carries fire risk, as a fuel leak near hot engine or exhaust components can ignite. On the safety systems side, a radar sensing defect can prevent the automatic emergency braking system from applying partial or full braking when needed, and a software error in the electronic stability control can cause it to react incorrectly to driving conditions, both raising the risk of a crash. The center console latch can fail in a collision, allowing the storage compartment to fly open and unsecured cargo to enter the cabin. The automatic crash notification system can send emergency responders to the wrong location after a collision. Wheel hub caps on certain vehicles may detach at speed, becoming road hazards for other drivers.
