2015 Mercedes-Benz Amg S65

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz AMG S65 has 4 recalls, the most serious involving the front roof panel, which can detach from the vehicle and become a road hazard for other drivers.

The roof panel concern covers two related scenarios. In the first, the adhesive bonding the front panel — the section between the windshield and the panoramic sunroof — can deteriorate and allow the panel to separate while driving. In the second, vehicles where that panel was previously replaced may not have been bonded correctly during the repair, leaving the panel at similar risk of detaching. Both scenarios result in the same hazard: a large panel coming loose at speed. There is also a seatbelt concern specific to certain S-Class coupes in this generation: the left and right front seatbelts may have been swapped during assembly, which puts each belt at the wrong angle and can prevent it from locking properly in a crash, reducing the restraint it provides to the occupant. Rounding out the recalls, a software fault in the emergency call system can cause it to report an incorrect date, time, and vehicle location when a crash triggers an automatic distress call, which can send emergency responders to the wrong place and delay their arrival.
