The 2019 Mercedes-Benz AMG S65 has 4 recalls, the most serious involving the Active Brake Assist radar system, which can fail to apply automatic emergency braking and raise the risk of a collision.
The seatbelt system carries a separate concern: in a crash, the pretensioners that snap the belt tight against the occupant may not activate, leaving the belt with more slack than intended and increasing the chance of injury. On the communications side, two recalls affect the vehicle's automatic emergency call system. In one case, the eCall system can become disabled entirely, meaning a crash victim cannot reach emergency services through the vehicle. In the other, the system may transmit an incorrect location to emergency responders, sending help to the wrong place after an accident. Both failures delay the response that can matter most in the minutes after a serious crash.
