The 2015 Mercedes-Benz B 250e has 3 recalls, the most serious being two equal-severity issues: an electric drive system fault that can cut power and stall the vehicle without warning, and a driver airbag that can deploy unexpectedly while driving.
The stall risk stems from a communication error inside the electric powertrain that can shut the system down mid-drive, leaving the vehicle unable to move under its own power in traffic. The airbag concern is separate: the driver airbag can fire on its own without a crash occurring, sending the bag into the driver's face without warning. There is also a software fault in the emergency call system where an incorrect internal clock can cause the system to report the wrong location to emergency responders if activated, potentially sending help to the wrong place during a genuine emergency.
