Mercedes-Benz Cla 250 Recalls

The Mercedes-Benz CLA 250 has 18 recalls covering 2018 through 2021, with the most serious being a 2018 driver airbag that can deploy without warning, raising the risk of injury and loss of vehicle control.

The 2020 model year carries several notable issues. A fuel injector leak can allow gasoline to contact hot engine or exhaust components and start a fire. The driver's front airbag module may not have been properly bolted down, meaning it can fail to deploy correctly in a crash. A single 2020 vehicle was also recalled because melted adhesive contaminated the electric power steering connection, causing the steering assist to cut out without warning. The rearview camera on 2020 models can display a black screen due to a software error, removing rear visibility when backing up. The 2020 model also lacks an inspection gauge for rear brake pad wear, which can allow pads to wear down undetected and reduce stopping ability.

On occupant protection, 2018 models have two separate passenger seat sensor calibration issues: one where the sensor fails to deactivate the front passenger airbag when a child seat is present, and another where the sensor may prevent the passenger airbag from deploying correctly for an adult occupant. The 2021 model year has a missing right-side anchor bar in the rear ISOFIX child seat bracket, meaning a child restraint cannot be properly secured in that position.

The roof panel adhesive on 2018 and 2019 models can deteriorate or fail to bond correctly after a prior repair, allowing the front panel between the windshield and panoramic sunroof to detach and become a road hazard. On 2019 models, the right-side door latches may prevent those doors from being opened from outside the vehicle, which complicates exit after a crash. The 2018 model also has tail lights and side marker lights that can flicker or go dark, reducing the vehicle's visibility to other drivers.

The emergency call system has recurring issues across 2018 through 2021 models: in some cases it can send responders to the wrong location, and in others it can fail entirely, preventing occupants from reaching emergency services after a crash. The 2020 and 2021 models have a multimedia software fault that can cause the backup camera display to go black or reboot on startup. On 2020 models, interior switch illumination can fail, making controls harder to locate while driving.
