The 2021 Mercedes-Benz CLS Class has 3 recalls, the most serious involving an improperly tightened bolt on the 48-volt ground connection that can cause wiring to overheat, melt, and start a fire.
Two recalls involve occupant safety systems. A front seat position switch defect can prevent airbags and seatbelt force limiters from deploying or tensioning correctly in a crash, leaving the occupant with less protection than expected. There is also a defect in the front passenger seatbelt retractor that prevents the belt from locking when used to secure a child seat, raising the risk of injury to a child in a crash. The vehicle's built-in lower anchor points for child seats are not affected by that defect and remain safe to use.
