The 2019 Mercedes-Benz E 300 has 8 recalls, the most serious being a fuel injector leak that can drip fuel onto hot engine or exhaust components and start a fire.
On the safety systems side, the automatic emergency braking radar can malfunction and fail to apply braking as expected before a collision. The seatbelt pretensioners and the pre-crash seat repositioning system may also fail to activate during a crash, reducing occupant protection. On vehicles where the instrument cluster has been previously replaced, the seatbelt reminder chime and warning light may not work, leaving front occupants without a prompt to buckle up. Three separate recalls address the automatic emergency call system: depending on the specific issue, the system may fail to connect to the emergency services center at all, or it may dispatch responders to the wrong location. There is also a software fault that can prevent the rearview camera from displaying an image when reversing.
