2020 Mercedes-Benz E 350

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz E 350 has 6 recalls, the most serious being two separate fire risks: a fuel leak from the injection system and an oil leak from loose turbocharger line fittings, both of which can ignite near hot engine or exhaust components.

The turbocharger concern applies only to the turbocharged 4-cylinder engine: the screws securing the oil feed and return lines to the turbocharger may not have been tightened properly, allowing oil to drip onto hot surfaces. The fuel injection issue covers a broader range of engine types and carries the same consequence — fluid escaping near a heat source.

Two recalls affect the automatic emergency calling system. In one, the eCall system can become disabled entirely, preventing the vehicle from contacting an emergency call center after a crash. In the other, the system may transmit an inaccurate vehicle location, sending responders to the wrong place. Both failures can delay help from reaching occupants after a collision. Prior attempts to address the eCall location issue did not fully resolve it, which is why it appears as a separate filing.

There is also a software error that can prevent the rearview camera from displaying an image when reversing. With the screen blank, the driver loses the view directly behind the vehicle, raising the risk of a collision while backing up.
