The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQB Class has 6 recalls, the most serious involving the high-voltage battery, which can overheat and short circuit, creating a fire risk even while the vehicle is parked and turned off. Prior repair attempts for this battery issue did not fully resolve the problem, and another repair is required for vehicles that received earlier service. A separate high-voltage concern involves a battery connection that may not have been properly tightened, which can cause a sudden loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion. On the occupant safety side, the B-pillar trim can crack when a side curtain airbag deploys in a crash, which may prevent the airbag from inflating correctly and can send plastic fragments toward people in the vehicle. There is also a powertrain concern where a parked vehicle can roll away on its own, raising the risk of a crash or injury.
