The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE 500 4MATIC has 4 recalls, the most serious being a steering coupling bolt that may not be properly tightened, allowing the coupling to separate from the steering rack and causing a complete loss of steering control.

Two recalls involve the electrical system. A battery management software fault can cause the drive motors to cut out without warning while the vehicle is moving, leaving the driver without propulsion. Separately, certain vehicles that were previously repaired under an earlier recall may have received the wrong fuse box, one not designed for this vehicle. That incorrect fuse box can cause a sudden loss of drive power or knock out critical systems including the airbags and instrument cluster, removing warnings and crash protection at once. There is also a software issue with the pedestrian alert system: the low-speed acoustic warning that plays when reversing can produce an incorrect sound, which may not register with pedestrians as a vehicle approaching from behind and raise the risk of a collision.
