The 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4MATIC has 3 recalls, the most serious being two separate electrical issues that can cause a sudden loss of drive power or knock out critical safety systems including the airbags and instrument cluster.
One of those electrical concerns stems from a prior repair that may have left an incorrect fuse box installed in certain vehicles. A fuse box not designed for this model can cut drive power without warning or disable the restraint systems and instrument cluster while driving, raising the risk of a crash or injury. Separately, a software issue in the high-voltage battery management system can also cause a sudden loss of drive power, leaving the vehicle without propulsion at any speed. The third recall involves the low-speed pedestrian alert system: software in the acoustic warning system may produce an incorrect sound when the vehicle is reversing, which could fail to notify pedestrians that the car is moving toward them.
