Mercedes-Benz Gl350 Recalls

The Mercedes-Benz GL350 has 9 recalls spanning the 2010–2017 model years, with the most serious being a Takata airbag inflator defect on 2011–2012 models where the driver's frontal airbag can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, risking serious injury to the driver and other occupants.

The most recent production years carry two notable safety concerns. On 2016–2017 models, water can enter the electric power steering control unit and deactivate power steering assist, leaving the driver with significantly heavier steering effort. Those same years also have a passenger seat sensor that can misclassify the front passenger, causing the front passenger airbag to not deploy in a crash.

The 2015 model year has a separate drivetrain concern: axle bolts on the front and rear drive axle carriers may not have been correctly assembled, and if the remaining bolts fracture, the vehicle can become unstable and difficult to control. On 2013–2016 models, an oil leak from the front suspension can reach an ignition source and start a fire. The 2013–2016 models also have a software fault in the emergency call system where an incorrect date and time can cause the system to relay a wrong vehicle location to emergency responders, potentially delaying their arrival. On 2013 models specifically, second-row seatbelt anchor bolts may not be properly tightened, and in a crash the belt may not hold the occupant securely.

Going back to 2010–2012 models, moisture can accumulate inside the brake booster housing, causing corrosion that reduces braking performance or leads to brake failure.
