The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GL350 has 4 recalls, the most serious involving a front suspension component that leaks oil, which can ignite and cause a fire.
The passenger airbag system also has a concern: a faulty passenger seat occupant sensor can misclassify the front passenger and prevent the airbag from deploying in a crash, raising the risk of injury to that occupant. On the steering side, water can enter the electric power steering control unit and cause the power assist to cut out, leaving the driver with significantly heavier steering effort and a higher risk of losing control. There is also a software fault in the emergency call system where an incorrect date and time can cause the system to relay a wrong vehicle location to emergency responders, potentially delaying help after a crash.
