The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving Continental tires that can develop a sidewall crack and lose air suddenly or shed tread while driving.
Water pooling in the spare tire well is a separate concern: if enough moisture collects there, it can damage the fuel pump control unit, causing the engine to stall unexpectedly while the vehicle is in motion. A sudden stall eliminates power-assisted braking and steering response, raising the risk of a collision. There is also an issue with the automatic crash notification system: if the eCall feature fails to transmit accurate location data after a collision, emergency responders may be directed to the wrong place, delaying assistance when it matters most.
