MERCEDES-BENZ GLS 450 Recalls

The Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 has 4 recalls covering 2016 through 2022, with the most serious being a loose steering coupling locking screw on 2021-2022 models that can detach from the steering gear and cause a complete loss of steering control. On 2020-2022 models, a ground cable bolt for the 48-volt electrical system under the front passenger seat can work loose, allowing the cable to overheat and start a fire. Spanning 2016-2020 models, a fuel injector leak can allow fuel to contact hot engine or exhaust components and ignite. Both of those fire-risk issues share the same severity level and together account for a wide portion of the production run. On 2018 models, a hydraulic brake system defect can reduce braking performance, leaving the driver with longer stopping distances than expected.
