The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving a brake defect that reduces stopping performance and raises the risk of a crash.
The remaining two recalls both involve the vehicle's automatic emergency call system, known as eCall, which is designed to contact emergency services after a crash. In one case, the system can fail entirely, leaving occupants unable to reach emergency services when they need it most. In the other, the system may dispatch emergency responders to the wrong location, delaying help from reaching the actual crash site. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the underlying eCall issues, which is why two separate recall campaigns exist for the same system.
