The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS 580 has 5 recalls, the most serious being a fuel pump that can shut down without warning, cutting drive power and leaving the vehicle unable to accelerate or maintain speed.
The fuel pump issue has been the subject of prior repair attempts that did not fully resolve the problem, and the concern remains open across multiple model years of this vehicle. On the electrical side, a 48-volt ground connection located under the passenger seat may not be properly secured, causing it to overheat and potentially start a fire. There are also two structural and occupant safety concerns worth knowing about. The third-row seatback locks can fail in a crash due to a manufacturing error, meaning rear passengers may not be properly restrained and could be thrown forward on impact. Separately from that, the rear door window trim bars can detach from the vehicle while driving and become road debris, creating a hazard for other vehicles or pedestrians nearby.
