The 2021 Mercedes-Benz Maybach GLS600 has 5 recalls, the most serious involving a loose ground cable bolt under the front passenger seat that can overheat and start a fire.
A separate fire risk comes from the air conditioning drain hoses, which may have been installed incorrectly and allow water to drain into the front foot wells instead of outside the vehicle. That standing water can corrode electrical components or cause short circuits, both of which raise the risk of fire. On the visibility side, a software issue in the multimedia system can cause the backup camera display to go black or reboot during startup, leaving the driver without a rear view while reversing. The rear door window trim bars are also affected: a manufacturing error means they can detach while driving and land in the road, creating a hazard for other vehicles. Finally, interior switches may not illuminate properly, making controls harder to locate while driving, particularly at night.
