The 2023 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 has 6 recalls, the most serious involving multiple issues that can cause loss of vehicle control: a rear axle that can shift out of position, a loose front suspension strut bolt that can cause loss of steering, and a wiring harness that can chafe against the driveshaft and short circuit, cutting power to the engine, steering, and brakes.
There is also an electrical recall where a 12-volt ground connection can overheat, creating a fire risk and causing a sudden loss of drive power. On the structural side, the interior partition wall may be missing bolts and can break free in a crash, becoming a hazard for occupants. Windows and interior cargo lashing rails may also be inadequately bonded to the body, meaning windows can detach in a crash and cargo secured to the rails can come loose.
