The 2014 Nissan LEAF has 6 recalls, the most serious involving the inverter, which can fail without warning and shut the vehicle down while driving, raising the risk of a crash.
Two structural recalls cover missing or incomplete welds in the front structural member, which can reduce the vehicle's ability to protect occupants in a crash. There is also a passenger seat sensor recall: if the sensor fails to correctly classify the front passenger, the airbag may not deploy as intended in a crash. On the brake side, the electronic brake booster contains a relay that can freeze in very cold temperatures, forcing the driver to push much harder on the pedal to slow the vehicle and increasing stopping distances. A lower-severity recall addresses incorrect defroster instructions in the owner's manual, which can lead to reduced windshield clearing and limited visibility in certain conditions.
