The 2016 Nissan Murano has 6 recalls, the most serious being a brake system fire risk where fluid can leak from the ABS actuator pump onto an internal circuit board and cause an electrical short.
A separate brake recall affects certain vehicles built between late 2015 and early 2016: insufficient brake fluid pressure can extend stopping distances and raise the risk of a crash. One recall only affects Murano Hybrid models, where a software issue in the hybrid powertrain control module can shut down the engine and hybrid system without warning, cutting drive power entirely. On the safety equipment side, the passenger seat occupant classification sensor can misread the front passenger and cause the frontal airbag to not deploy as intended in a crash, leaving the occupant without that protection.
