On that engine, oil breakdown from high temperatures can damage the engine bearings and lead to full engine failure. A separate defect in the electronic throttle body can cause its internal gears to break, also cutting drive power. Both issues affect the VC-Turbo engine only. There is also a software error that can cause the rearview camera to show a blank screen when the vehicle is in reverse, reducing the driver's ability to see behind the car while backing up.
